I've recently learned, and was shocked by it, that there is a very limited amount of psychoanalytic publications on nymphomaniac behaviour of females. Found a couple of interesting articles, e.g Nymphomania: The Historical Construction of Female Sexuality by Carol Groneman, and Fathers and Daughters by Susan Kavaler-Adler...learned about the Delilah and Orestia Complex...I'm particularly interested in the Delilah complex...but hardly have not found one good piece on it. I'd be curious to find out if others can point out stuff to me.....

Re: sexual history of the female
Sun, January 29, 2006 - 12:06 AMUnconsciously, the male psychoanalysts don't want to cure nymphomania, and the nymphomaniacs don't want to be cured. -

Re: sexual history of the female
Tue, February 14, 2006 - 9:34 PMThe nymphomaniac want to seduce the analyst (ie: the one who is most critical of their sexual behavior) but also fears him and his analysis (because to be analayzed would break down the nymphomanaic's "pure passion" into neuroses.)
speaking purely hypothetically, of course.... -

Re: sexual history of the female
Sun, October 8, 2006 - 12:41 AMand then, there are also the female analysts whose narcissistic desire demands that her clients be seduced into erotic desire for her and this is denied by the analyst but is always present in her work... and required for her to feel that the work is of value... and the male supervisors/colleauges of such a woman are seduced by the cases presented and they too fall prey to the erotic feild, literalizing the metaphore and.... so on. all hypothetically of course...
